This is the philosophy that shapes every decision we make: the goals belong solely to the athlete. Not the coaches' goals, and not the parents' goals. When we make decisions about training, we're asking what this athlete wants and what serves her best — nothing else. It's a standard we hold ourselves to deliberately, because competitive gymnastics is a demanding sport, and an athlete who owns her own goals is the one who lasts in it, thrives in it, and carries that ownership into the rest of her life.
